Overview

ExternalMandateReason1Code explains a mandate decision: why a direct debit mandate request is refused, amended or cancelled — wrong account (AC01), closed account (AC04), debtor’s name mismatch, agreement ended.

When it is used

These codes belong to the mandate lifecycle, not to a collection: they answer “why can this mandate not be set up or kept?”, whereas a return reason answers “why did this collection come back?”. Several codes appear in both lists with the same wording and a different subject.
